Tonight's episode of "Real Housewives of New Jersey" was titled "Reunion: Part 2." As last week’s season finale ended on a happy note with the families getting along, the first part of the reunion showed that all is not as well as it was depicted at the end of the season and old wounds do not always heal.
As the second half started, Andy Cohen introduced the cast, including Rosie and both Joes. Andy asked them all if they could take back anything they said from the past season? Rosie would take back her “take it up the ass, Teresa” statement. Joe Giudice would take back the names he called his in-laws, like Josephine, Butchie Boy, and Horsey Face. Melissa would take back what she said about Joe and about Teresa’s products. Teresa would take back calling Jacqueline evil.
As Andy read off questions submitted by fans, he asked Caroline about the comments her sons made about fat girls being blow job queens and questioned why neither of them was in a relationship, and that it was not just their busy work schedules. Caroline stated that it was a stupid question, but when they were in school; this disturbing information was something she heard from them about ten thousand times! Rosie countered with defending herself as a fat girl who never did this. Andy then asked if anyone was called a name that disturbed them; they pretty much laughed about such handles as; sociopaths, scum and garbage, douche bags, stupid, gold digger, cheater and the ultimate “c” word that Joe Giudice called his wife.
Although they just completed their fifth season, Andy pointed out that they continue to reveal things about themselves that are surprising, especially when they traveled to Arizona. Caroline stated that the Jersey group did not belong in a place of such tranquility, and Andy questioned why? She told him that clearly, they were not a Zen group; but loud and obnoxious and at times behave like children. Miraval was life-changing for some of them. Rosie quit smoking after remembering how her father deteriorated from smoking cigarettes, how she did not feel good about herself. Joe Giudice told her how well she looked, and she thanked him for getting her started working out. She now works out regularly, and they all got a big kiss and an I love you from her.
Another question posed to Joe Gorga asked why if he was fighting with his brother-in-law in Lake George, why was he toasting him in Arizona? Did things change that much between them, but why not with his sister? Joe Gorga then stated, and apologized to Teresa by saying that he felt that she and not Joe were behind the continued slander that was aimed at him and his wife. He felt that Teresa was more competitive and that Joe may chime in, but that she allows it to continue. Joe Giudice defended his wife stating that neither of them had the time nor desire to do such a thing. She may be there in presence when things are being said, but he said that it was not her, and it does not make sense. Joe Gorga stated that both he and his brother-in-law are street guys, and that they know what is going on. Melissa stated that if Teresa was not at the table with the other women that night, it would not have been filmed, and it would not have reached the proportions it did.
Teresa also stated that she felt that the reason why her in-laws were on the show, was to take her down. They were not even four hours into the filming, when the christening melee occurred. She asked them what she ever did to them, that would make her be portrayed as such a villain? He defended himself by saying that for two years she kept him out of her life. She signed a contract that day and as part of the show, she had to attend the christening. He felt that prior to the day, she wanted nothing to do with him, but when the cameras were on, she acted like nothing was wrong between them, and he just lost it.
He told her their parents would not even watch the show with them, because they feel they are the devils; and who told them that? They agreed not to bring their parents into the fray, but Rosie asked Teresa to admit her part in the mess.
Andy asked about Albert’s part in the Arizona episodes, when he admitted to Wyatt that he was emotionally abused. Caroline stated how her father-in-law was. When he was good, he was wonderful, but when he was bad, he was extreme. Caroline stated how he disciplined his children rather toughly, but she witnessed his loving side. A question about Albert’s family asked if they were the real-life Sopranos, questioning about his father’s death. Caroline gets very offended when anyone suggests that they are part of that world. She is married to a man who works like an animal, and has since he was a teenager, when his father bought the Brownstone. She is ready to go to war against anyone who wants to defame his name. Neither she nor Albert wanted to know the facts behind his death. They lived through this nightmare and do not want to relive it. She had two words for anyone who wants to continue to bring this up.
Andy brought up the fact in Arizona that Joe Giudice was worried about impending legal issues. Andy wanted to hear from their cast mates about their feelings in this situation. Caroline had tears in her eyes; she said Joe allowed himself to be vulnerable, and it was endearing. Nobody should be kicked when they are down, and she just wanted to hug him. When fears are admitted, that is when help comes pouring in. Andy asked Joe Gorga if he regretted saying in Lake George that Joe deserves to go to jail? Melissa was the one who said it, and both regretted it. Jacqueline also said something on the last reunion in the same regard, but she also apologized and this was all before the major indictment was handed down. Andy then asked if Joe got his license back because he was driving on the show; Joe replied that he did. The motor vehicle case is still pending.
Someone asked if Teresa’s current legal problems were karma? She does not believe in karma; she is Catholic and although the word was used in Arizona, it is not something she feels to be true. She feels that this situation is something she has no control over, but Andy countered, stating one could say they had control over it. She said it is in God’s hands.
Joe Gorga stated that it was a hard thing to swallow, and he prays that it all works out. Caroline feels the same way and knows that they are hard-working people and good people. On the way back from Arizona, they discussed that something was happening, not knowing the full extent of the charges.
Andy asked Melissa; if anything ever happened, would she take care of the kids? Melissa told her that if she asked them to, of course they would. Joe Gorga would be there in a heartbeat, was his reply. However, when he heard the news, he called his sister, but could not call Joe. He just has no words to say that can express how he feels. Melissa was tearful about the situation. Teresa expressed how they were raised in an Italian family, where parents did not always tell their children that they loved them, but now she tells her parents she loves them all the time and has them saying the same. She cannot tell her children enough how much she loves them and hears it back from them just as much. Teresa also admitted how she cries herself to sleep, rather than let everyone see her pain.
Teresa and Joe are grateful for all the support they have gotten from friends and family. Gia’s friends are supporting her, and the love continues to pour in and both Teresa and Joe thanked everyone for their love and feelings.
Then Andy introduced guests, and tricked everyone into thinking that he had them waiting in the wings. He introduced Danielle, Kim G. and Dina, as eyebrows were raised. They were not there, but Andy said he would like to bring them all out and then leave.
One question was given to all the housewives; if they could have done one thing different on any of the seasons, what would it be? Jacqueline would have been quieter on the last reunion she said smiling, as she was not in attendance last reunion. Caroline would have been sick all season four. Melissa was completely stumped. Kathy would have tried to reach out to Teresa prior to the season she started to let her know that she was not there to undermine her. Teresa said that she wishes she was more open to Jacqueline and reached out to her. Melissa then said that she would have filmed more with Teresa and the kids because they were her favorite scenes.
As for their final words to each other or about the season; Teresa was first to say that being there today says a lot. She is glad that she and Caroline are over how they felt. When Teresa wrote that Caroline called her superficial. Caroline said she was over the blog, but Teresa insisted on waking the sleeping dragon. Caroline then said how Teresa hurt her and her husband with a blatant lie. Teresa said she hurt her by saying that she was superficial and accused her of attacking her. Caroline was riled up and said that Teresa was harping on this one thing until the day she died. She ranted that Teresa is willing to take everything that she has done for her and her family and sweep it under the rug and treating her like garbage because she told the truth. Now the friendship between the two of them is just a thing of the past and Teresa is someone Caroline used to know. When Melissa chimed in as did Kathy, Teresa felt that everyone but Jacqueline was ganging up on her. And so it ended for now, just when it seemed like all was going to end cordially, but remember; this is the "Real Housewives of New Jersey."
