The first episode of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" reunion show was just as epic as expected. Rumors of the fight between Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore were put to rest as the brawl that ended in Porsha's arrest was aired with much more detail than anticipated. On Monday Hollywood Life argued why Porsha should not be fired from the show for her part in the attack.
Just the housewives were invited to the first part of the reunion show. There were no overbearing mothers or scene-stealing husbands on hand to take the spotlight off the cast of "RHOA." Outside influences weren't necessary as the women came armed for drama. Matter of fact, Kenya came armed with a scepter and some slick-tongued jabs for her fellow co-stars.
It was pretty clear that the entire cast of "RHOA" is united in one thing. They can't stand Kenya Moore. This was even more apparent after the reunion show taping when the women banded together in support of their friend Porsha. They are adamant that they do not want Porsha fired for dragging Kenya across the stage by her hair.
In Porsha's defense, it really wasn't her fault that she finally snapped on Kenya. It's also pretty apparent that getting Porsha or any of the cast to get physical was her intent. She egged on each member of the cast. She talked about Phaedra and Apollo. Even insinuating that Phaedra's husband strays. She also attacked NeNe, accusing her of failing to pay her condolences over the death of Kenya's dog Velvet. The only cast members that stayed off Kenya's radar were Kandi Burruss and Cynthia Bailey.
After waiving her scepter around and getting far too close for comfort, Kenya gets her prop snatched right from her hands. Porsha, who has clearly had enough, warns Kenya not to pick the scepter back up unless she wants it implanted in her anatomy.
Always prepared though, Kenya pulls out a bullhorn and starts blasting on it about how Porsha will not talk over her. Names are called and then over the bullhorn Kenya tells Porsha, "You are a dumb ho, shut up!" And that's when it was all over. Porsha completely blacked out and snapped on Kenya. As she stands up to make her charge, you can hear Kenya say "I'm going to get you fired." Then Porsha charges Kenya and drags her across the stage by her weave. The surprising part is how much of the beating Bravo showed during the show.
The attack is brief but the victor is clearly Porsha, as Kenya was completely pummeled. She popped right back up, looking completely satisfied with herself. It was pretty obvious that Kenya's plan was to egg one of her foes until they attacked and then guarantee their firing. The producers had made it pretty clear after Apollo's attack on Brandon DeShazer that they wouldn't put up with anymore fights.
Sadly, Porsha was in a heap on the floor. She was so upset that she lost her cool and attacked Kenya. As needled as she was, it's amazing that Porsha didn't drag Kenya across the floor much sooner. She apologized profusely to the rest of the cast and to Andy Cohen. It is clear she didn't mean to snap and that Kenya just pushed too far.
Now many have reported that Porsha won't be asked back but that is still up in the air. The cast of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" are calling for Kenya's removal from the show, not Porsha. They say that Kenya knew what she was doing and pushed Porsha's buttons beyond what is reasonable.
The second part of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" reunion will air next Sunday evening. Mama Joyce will be on hand as well as all of the husbands. Will you be tuning in for more "RHOA" drama?
