Friendships don’t seem to last forever on the Bravo reality series “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” In a season filled with verbal catfights and backstabbing, the one friendship that seemed solid couldn’t even hold strong because of the drama. On Sunday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live” with host Andy Cohen, NeNe opened up about the season, particularly her beef with Kenya Moore and her friendship with Cynthia Bailey. As Radar Online reports on April 14, it is actually Cynthia who NeNe implies should be off the show.
The “Dancing with the Stars” contestant tried to hold back when Cohen asked who she felt shouldn’t return next season. After assuming Kenya was the one NeNe wanted fired, the reality star hinted that the person who should be gone doesn’t add any “balance” to the show because of her lack of loyalty. When Cohen said it sounded as though she was referring to Cynythia, NeNe took the opportunity to really open up about the friendship gone wrong.
“When you have a friend and they do something wrong and something you don’t like, I don’t think you align yourself with the enemy. I think you stick with your friend and say, ‘Look, we were friends. I liked you. You did this and I don’t like that.’ But at the end of the day, you’re not going to align yourself with the enemy. To me, you’re just weak.”
In the interview, it became apparent very quickly that NeNe was not happy that Cynthia Bailey was friendly with Kenya Moore during the season because, “Kenya came on the show from the beginning and blow Cynthia’s head off.” NeNe believes that’s where Cynthia has showed her weakness the most because she aligned herself with a person who she clashed with.
But Kenya is not the only reason for NeNe and Cynthia breaking off their friendship. The “Glee” actress admitted that calling Cynthia’s husband Peter a bitch in an episode was where the two really began to distance themselves from one another. Although NeNe did apologized, things deteriorated and told Cohen, “she stopped calling me. I stopped calling her.”
Overall Leakes feels that Cynthia Bailey adds nothing to the show unlike Kenya, whom she says at least brings drama to the show. Cynthia only talked about the Bailey agency and Bar One and never really had anything else to talk about. She says her former friend “blows wherever the wind blows” and therefore she should be the one gone from the show. NeNe made her implication even more clear by saying, “Girl, bye!”
