It looks like Kelsey Grammer likes unscripted reality TV. In "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" news Grammer, who runs Grammnet with Camille, is getting into the unscripted reality TV business according to an article in Variety. Grammer has formed G3 Productions with reality TV's Stella Bulochnikov-Stolper and entered into a joint venture with Zodiak USA. Brian Sher, Grammer's partner in Grammnet Productions, is also a partner in G3.
Grammer said, "Combining all of our talents with the people at Zodiak USA makes for an even more exciting collaboration."
Variety reports that Grammer and Bulochnikov-Stolper are already in business together with "Boss" [Starz] which Grammnet is producing with Lionsgate TV, Sher and Bulochnikov-Stolper. "Boss" is a drama series that will star Grammer as a powerful Chicago mayor [filmmaker Gus Van Sant will direct the series pilot] and production is set to begin this spring, with producers expecting to shoot in Chicago, according to The Chicago Tribune.
“Boss” will be Grammer’s first major dramatic television role, along with the first TV project for Van Sant director of “My Own Private Idaho,” “Drugstore Cowboy,” and “Good Will Hunting,” according to Variety
The Chicago Tribune also report that "Boss" was packaged for Lionsgate Television and Grammer's Grammnet Productions and sold to Starz by WME the Hollywood firm run by Ari Emanuel brother of real-life Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel.
G3/Zodiak will develop series concepts and formats which can then be sold and distributed around the world.
"I knew that Kelsey loved this space and would love to pop some big shows." Bulochnikov-Stolper said.
