Alexia Echevarria of "The Real Housewives of Miami" is reportedly in trouble with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS,) according to a report published by Miami New Times on Dec. 26.

The reality star and her husband, Herman, owe $94,078.44 in back taxes from 2009 and as a result of not paying their tax debt, the IRS has put a lien on their house. Herman and Alexia Echevarria were informed of the debt in May 2012, but have yet to pay the bill.

This past year has not been kind to "The Real Housewives of Miami" star. In August, her youngest son was involved in a serious car accident and her oldest son, Peter, was arrested for assaulting a homeless man, then posting a video of it on YouTube.

According to Gather, Peter will not do any jail time and has instead been ordered to a diversion program.

With Herman and Alexia Echevarria not paying their tax debt, could this mean that the couple could be having financial difficulties? Why would the reality star of "The Real Housewives of Miami" not take care of this immediately?

Whatever their reasons are for not paying off this IRS debt, hopefully they will have the situation resolved soon and that 2013 will be a better year for the family.
