Love wine? Love the 'Real Housewives'? Then you're in luck because this year's Blue Ridge Wine Festival in Blowing Rock, NC, features New Jersey 'real housewife' and cookbook author Teresa Giudice, who also appears in this season's “Celebrity Apprentice” with Donald Trump.
Organizers have announced an extra upfront day in this year's festival, which runs April 11-15, to allow day-trippers more opportunities to experience more springtime in Blowing Rock with cost-saving lodging packages.
There are a couple of other new things this year. First, the “Fire on the Rock Chef Challenge” finals will take place Wednesday evening at Crippen’s Restaurant. Diners are judging the preliminary events as well as the finals, which will include a six-course meal prepared by two of the area’s best-known chefs. (Reservations required: 828.295.3487).
Second, a new event’s been added Friday evening, 6:30-9:30, called “Grillin’ and Chillin’.”
Popular events continue, too, in this, the festival’s seventh year, including “A True Taste of North Carolina” in the Grand Tasting Tent downtown with a whole-hog pig pickin', barbequed chicken, fixin's and banana pudding, along with, of course, a wide selection of North Carolina wines and craft-made beers. Blues music is also on tap. Attendance is limited to 250.
Celebrity Chef Teresa Giudice, best-selling author and one of the stars of reality TV show “The Real Housewives of New Jersey”will appear at several festival events and will host the Celebrity Chef Cooking Demo on Saturday, April 14. Giudice is the best selling author of two cookbooks, “Skinny Italian” and “Fabulicious!: Teresa’s Italian Family Cookbook." Her third cookbook, “Fabulicious: Fast & Fit!” is scheduled for May release.
