Florida Gov. Rick Scott adopted a rescue dog, a Labrador retriever, in 2010. The dog rose to fame when Scott allowed his Facebook followers to help him find a name for the dog, and an online contest resulted in naming him Reagan.
Once the online name-giving ceremony was over, and the enthusiasm toward Scott having opened his own home and, for the future, the Governor’s Mansion to a rescue dog had faded, Reagan disappeared not only from the limelight but from the living world.
Recent inquiries by the Tampa Bay Times about the dog’s whereabouts met with hostility and secrecy but finally revealed that Reagan was returned to his former owners because he didn’t get along with the governor’s staff. Reagan ended up at All Pets Grooming and Boarding, a pet service business in Naples, Fla. Further sketchy answers indicated that Reagan is now living under the name of Pluto on a horse ranch somewhere in Southwest Florida.
As for Scott, he adopted another rescue dog sometime during his residing at the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee, Fla. The new dog, named Tallee, is 7 years old and is another Labrador.
