Looking for a little escape this weekend? You won’t have to go very far. Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area, Boise’s own ski resort, opened on December 8, and they are ready to welcome winter fitness enthusiasts of all skill levels. Why not take a break from the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping and hit the slopes?
You can enjoy skiing or snowboarding on Saturday or Sunday. On Sunday, December 15, you can also check out the Nordic Demo Day, and try out some new cross country and skate ski equipment. Sales representatives from Bogus Basin’s major equipment suppliers will be available to show you their latest and greatest gear.
Skiing is a great way to burn calories, and it will give you a full-body workout. A 150 pound person will burn 475 calories in an hour of snow skiing. A 200 pound person will burn 635 calories in an hour. If you prefer snowboarding, a 150 pound person will torch 425 calories in an hour, while a 200 pound person will blast 570 calories.
