Ready to get wet? Whitewater rafting season looks amazing for California

Photo near the Kaweah River courtesy Whitewater

This is the summer to bump whitewater rafting up to the top of your must-do list. All that rain that pounded our state and covered our mountains in snow in January, February and March has to go somewhere this spring. Outfitters on the Tuolumne and Kern Rivers, among others, are optimistic to say the least.

Riding in deep powder during the winter months is synonymous with whitewater rafting on rivers full to their banks. -

Where to go? The closest river to L.A. is the Kern (just a couple hours’ drive). Read 5 rafting rivers within 8 hours of Los Angeles.

Trips on California rivers typically begin mid-April.
