Ladies, grab your stilettos! In just a few hours today, Sat. June 21, gals of all stripes and stilettos will take off from Hotel Montelone to help fight breast cancer.

The organizers with FestiGals tell the Examiner that the "Stiletto Stroll & Sprint" kicks off with a two-block sprint down Royal in three-inch heels. After the race, those who prefer comfortable shoes can enjoy the signature "Stiletto Stroll." The parade launches in front of Hotel Montelone before ending up at the Bourbon Heat at 711 Bourbon where the so-called "After Glow Party" will occur.

It's impossible to put a price tag on helping fight breast cancer, so if you have 40.00 for the registration fee, tickets are still available. The event's proceeds will, in part, be donated to the Breast Center at Ochsner Baptist Church.

Since the event kicks off in just a few hours, better come down live to pick up your ticket in person at Royal Salon A Hotel Montelone 214 Royal Street.

Following is the Schedule:

5:00 p.m. - Registration

5:45 p.m. - Sprint!

7:00 p.m. - Stiletto Stroll

7:30 - 9 - After Glow Party

Ladies, do encourage your significant others to attend as well. Breast cancer affects all of us, including men, for whom about 2,360 cases are diagnosed annually with some 430 of them dying from the disease, according to Cancer.org. An estimated one in 37 white American women will die of breast cancer, and an estimated one in 31 African-American women (See: http://www.cancer.org/acs/groups/content/@epidemiologysurveilance/docume...).
