Appearing Tuesday in Jodi Rell’s office was the new uniform for the Connecticut Whale, who begin Howard Baldwin’s quest to bring the NHL back to Hartford this coming Saturday.
A simple gesture of Baldin presenting a green jersey with a cartoon whale jumping through a C to Governor Rell simply means one thing; the Brass Bonanza will be blaring everywhere come the 27th.
Can you imagine how many folks will change their ringtone to the Brass Bonanza?
As Rell declared “Connecticut Whale Week” for these few days prior to the maiden voyage of the CT Whale, Baldwin cited the outgoing support for hockey in 1997 when Rell was serving under then Governor Roland as the lieutenant governor.
“The Whale is back,” Rell said. “It’s good news for the state, it’s good news for Hartford.”
The final Hartford Wolf Pack game will be #1177 in team history while at Bridgeport against the Sound Tigers. According to the Wolf Pack’s web site, the franchise is 571-346-66-49-29 in the thirteen and change seasons of existence.
The Whale’s first game is Saturday against Bridgeport. Sunday’s game will be against former Wolf Pack coach John Paddock and the Adirondack Phantoms.
