Reading Village Learning Journey only six weeks away (Photos)

Reading Village is preparing to embark on their April Learning Journey. Only a few spots remain to join them on an eight-day guided trip to rural Guatemala. The trip will take place April 25th through May 2nd. Registration can be done on the Reading Village website or by contacting learningjourney@readingvillage.org.

Reading Village has been working in the impoverished regions of Guatemala since 2006 with one mission: To transform lives through literacy.

The April Learning Journey is limited to ten participants and will include time in the colonial town of Antigua and the village of Panajachel on the shore of Lake Atitlan. Travelers are introduced to the Reading Promoters as well as children and teens who participate in the Reading Village program.

The itinerary includes tour of the ancient Maya site of Iximche, coffee cooperatives and spectacular rural farmland.

The trip cost supports the ongoing efforts of Reading Village and has inspired groups and individuals to travel with purpose for 5 years.

"My time with Learning Journey was amazing! I've been fortunate to travel internationally quite a bit, but the travel with Learning Journey was unique in that you get to really know the people of the country that you are visiting. You get to work alongside them and get to know them. I got more than souvenirs from my time in Guatemala, I made friends that I still keep in contact with. It was a wonderful experience - one that I deeply treasure!" - T. Lopez, Learning Journey Alumni

Can’t make the April trip? Reading Village will host another trip in November of 2013.
