Emily Iland, educational therapist and author of Drawing a Blank: Improving Comprehension for Readers on the Autism Spectrum, will provide a one-day training workshop on effective ways to improve reading comprehension for students on the autism spectrum.
Some of the valuable tips Ms. Iland will share include which comprehension techniques are validated by research, the most effective strategies to use before beginning to read, and techniques to develop inferential comprehension skills.

About the workshop presenter: Emily Iland, M.A., is an award-winning author, advocate, researcher and leader in the autism field. As the mother of a young man with ASD, she brings personal experience and insight to her professional roles. An experienced educational consultant, president of the Autism Society of Los Angeles, and adjunct professor, (Department of Special Education at California State University, Northridge) she is known for her ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
