The Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul was the place for a fantastic finish to the second Class AA semifinal game Friday night with the Minnetonka Skippers beating the Lakeville North panthers 4-3 in six overtimes. Here are reactions from some people who were involved in the game as well as in the stands watching it.
Eric Johnson, the head coach of the Skippers described the game as "Bizarre. It was just a bizarre game. It was bizarre. It was an odd game to be a part of. It was a special moment."
Brian and Sheila McMillan, a couple of Minnetonka fans were at the X Friday night. Sheila gave their viewpoint.
"it was an amazing game. Great hockey."
Also present was Don Draayer, the superintendent of the Minnetonka school district from 1971 to 1995 and grandfather of Skipper junior Diana Draayer. he gave his views on the game.
"I was proud of both teams. It showed great heart on the part of both teams. There was loyalty shown. Great school spirit."
Also interviewed was Tori Holt of KSTC-TV. "I thought it was a wonderful game. It was great to be a part of.
