Late on Jan. 8, the Razzies had Hollywood's attention when the home of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation's annual worst-of list was released. The nominations for this spoof on the Oscars that designate which big screen participants showed the lowest amount of artist integrity in 2012 arrived a bit more than one day before the Academy Awards nominations, which will be revealed Thursday.
Meanwhile, winning movies that now can claim the dubious distinction for picking up nominations for the 33rd annual Razzies Awards include "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. โ Pt. 2," "That's My Boy," "Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection,""Battleship," and "The Oogieloves in A Thousand Balloons".
These flicks, which feature high profile performers many consider A-list actors, such as Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, Adam Sandler, and Eddie Murphy, were not necessarily the worst to play film houses in 2012. Their inclusion in this exclusive list came about because a team of 33,000 naysayers decided to take the mickey out of these particular efforts.
With that in mind,"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn โ Part 2" was slammed by Razzies' decision makers. The familiar franchise's finale grabbed 11 nominations, including worst actress Kristen Stewart, worst actor Robert Pattinson, worst supporting actor Taylor Lautner, worst supporting actress Ashley Greene, worst screen couple for both Pattinson and Stewart and Lautner and Mackenzie Foy, and Bill Condon for worst director.
Apparently, Razzies voters have been laying in wait to pounce on the vampire flick. In fact, the organization's founder, John Wilson, called this call to slam "Breaking Dawn โ Part 2" their members' "last chance to razz 'Twilight.'"
According to the Associated Press via National Public Radio, winners for the 33rd annual Razzies will be announced Feb. 23, the evening prior to the Oscars.
