The Hogs begin this month in Gainesville, FL against the Florida Gators. This is a brutal stretch as the Hogs play three of the top SEC and national teams with two being on the road. Playing South Carolina at home helps, but may not be enough to get the win.
Oct 5 at Florida
Florida is a team that may have over achieved in 2012. Few people believe that the Gators would have beaten Texas A&M at the end of the year. Nevertheless, the Gators made it to the Sugar Bowl only to be defeated by Louisville.
The Gators will return 6 on offense including QB Jeff Driskel and 4 on defense. The talent that steps on the field every year is among the best in the country.
Arkansas 28 Florida 23
The Hogs come in against Florida a little frustrated following their close loss to Texas A&M, but they feel confident in playing on the road after beating Rutgers on the road a couple of weeks ago.
The game draws a 11 am time for TV and the Gators open the game like they are still in bed. The Hogs race out to a 21-3 lead and hold on against a furious Florida rally to upset the Gators. Brandon Allen passes for 21-28 for 244 yards, 2 toucdowns and 1 interception. Alex Collins shows off against his home state rushing for 146 yards and a touchdown. Javontee Herndon catches one touchdown while Kiero Small catches one out of the backfield delivering a bone crushing hit while crossing the goal line. Trey Flowers has 3 sacks for the defense.
Oct 12 South Carolina
South Carolina looks scary. The Gamecocks return 7 starters on offense and 5 on defense including all world defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. This is not the Steve Spurrier teams of the 90’s as they are far more physical.

Hog fans see another home SEC loss as South Carolina is just too much for the young Hogs. The Razorbacks put up a fight for three quarters before the begin to fade. The Hogs use a good ground attack to keep the Gamecock offense off the field, but eventually, QB Connor Shaw gets the offense rolling.
Brandon Allen throws two picks late to thwart the Razorbacks effort. Jonathan Williams rushes for 115 yards while Alex Collins has only 45 yards after being rattled by a hit by Clowney causing him to fumble.
Oct 19 at Alabama
The Alabama Crimson Tide is the back-to-back national champions. Some experts think this might be the best team Nick Saban has had in Tuscaloosa. That does not bode well for everyone else.
Alabama 42 Arkansas 17
The Hogs are a little bit demoralized by the loss against South Carolina and it takes them a little while to get going. By then, Alabama is ahead 28-7 and it is too late. The Tide cruise the rest of the way.
The Hogs get a much needed break the following week after two straight losses and three of the past four. The Hogs record is 5-3.
