Finding razor blades in donuts would be a terrifying discovery for any consumer. Imagine someone purposely hiding such a thing in food then eating them. That's what a couple in Draper, Utah did when they tampered with donut packaging at Smith's Food and Drug store, according to New York Daily News March 14.
X-rays showed a number of razor blades inside the stomachs of Carole Lee Leazer-Hardman and Michael Condor. They varied in cut-sized pieces. Condor and Hardman were attempting to land a large sum of cash by claiming the donuts they bought was "tainted food."
An investigation was underway immediately when the couple alerted police to ingesting donuts with razor blades inside them. The store had to remove the donuts that were in a tamper-proof package that were shipped from out-of-state.
Upon questioning Condor, he admitted to planting razors the inside the donuts so he and his partner-in-crime could extort money from the company.
The couple were arrested for filing a false police report and assault after a Dollar Store employee ate one of the donuts she bought from a package they tampered with.
