Razor blades in donuts would undoubtedly be cause for alarm to any company, right? Well that's just what a couple from Utah thought. Carole Lee Leazer-Hardman and Michael Condor had a great idea to put razor blades in donuts and then eat the donuts to try and get some money out of the doughnut-makers. On March 14, the New York Daily News reported that their plan didn't work out too well.
Leazer-Hardman and Condor had different size razor blades in their stomachs after consuming several of the laced donuts. Instead of cashing in, however, the two were caught in their not-so-brilliant scheme and they were arrested by police.
Swallowing razor blades in donuts certainly doesn't sound fun but this couple was apparently desperate for some cash. The couple basically called police and complained that they had eaten "tainted food." After some investigating, the cops figured out that it was the couple who "tainted" their own food. It didn't take too long for Condor to break.
According to the report, Condor admitted that he and Leazer-Hardman put the razor blades in the donuts to try and "extort money from the firm." The couple was charged with filing a false police report and assault. (One employee also ate a doughnut and suffered cuts in her mouth).
Razor blades in donuts sounds simply brilliant, doesn't it?
