Razor blade croissant: Broken box cutter found in Dunkin' Donuts pastry

A razor blade croissant was the last thing that a Dunkin' Donuts customer could have expected when she visited a local Connecticut franchise of the coffee chain. However, that's exactly what customer Priscilla Salas discovered when she took a bite of her otherwise delicious croissant just like she does on a near daily basis.

According to a Dec. 10, 2013 report by Yahoo! News, the woman bought the razor blade croissant in Windham one day last week. When she bit into the pastry, she felt the sharp shards of broken metal cut her mouth. Upon further investigation, she discovered multiple shards of metal measuring up to a quarter inch in length.

The customer was understandably stunned at receiving a razor blade croissant from her favorite Dunkin' Donuts. She said, “Oh my god, is it what I think it is?” She’s reportedly okay, but she is concerned about the safety of others, telling WVIT, “Could be a little kid eating it and not noticing it, and just next thing you know, mouth bleeding or something. So it is concerning.” She continued, “I just think that it’s a public hazard…I just want the public to know and to be aware what they buy and look over everything they eat.”

When the customer called the corporate offices of Dunkin' Donuts, she was told that the razor blade croissant could actually have contained metal from a box cutter. The corporate offices told her it was likely a frozen croissant from the distribution center, and they said they would find the location where the tainted croissant originated.

Dunkin' Donuts called the razor blade croissant at the Boston Post Road location in Windham an isolated incident. They apologized to the customer and offered to send her a gift card. There is no word on whether she will use the gift card to buy more croissants.

As you can see from the video on the left-hand side of the page, Dunkin' Donuts certainly isn't the only restaurant ever to be faced with a razor blade scandal. A woman recently claimed to have found a razor blade in Burger King food. Check out the video for more details.
