The 2013 MLB playoff schedule is set, well almost set that is. After a long season, 162 games just weren’t enough to decide the America League wildcard teams so tonight the unofficial playoffs begin.
According to MLB.com on Sept 29, Tampa Bay and Texas both won their games on Sunday, which put them in a dead heat for the final wildcard spot, so now we have a Game 163 on tap tonight!
In a sense it’s a playoff game to see who makes the playoffs.
The Rays and Rangers will meet up for a one game tiebreaker tonight in Arlington at 8:00 p.m. EST, with the winner moving on to take on the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field in Wednesday's AL Wild Card Game.
This is really a “win or go home” situation!
According to Las Vegas handicapper Jim Feist Tampa Bay is a slight favorite over the Rangers at -125, with over/under number set at 7.5.
What better way to kick off the MLB playoffs than with a "play-in" playoff game?
This rare situation may be effecting the rest of the AL playoff schedule but only in terms of when the game times will be. The Detroit Tigers know they will play the Oakland A’s and the Boston Red Sox will face the AL wildcard winner, yet the times for all the games won’t be set until this game tonight and the wildcard game winner Wednesday is determined.
Either way, playoff baseball is finally here!
