Raychel Alley earns female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com

When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.

2013/2014 Winter season- Week 5-December 30th-January 5th

Female

Raychel Alley- Stearns- basketball- Scored 25 points in 54-44 loss to Dexter. Scored 32 points in 66-42 victory over Bangor Christian.

Alley has helped Stearns win five of their first nine games, they currently sit third in the class D heal point standings.

Alley is the fourth student/athlete from Stearns to earn AOW.

Sigi Koizar earned the honor three times, Taylor Pelkey and Jordan Morrow have also earned athlete of the week.

Runner up

Brianna Skolfield- Foxcroft- basketball- Recorded 33 points and 13 rebounds in 66-53 victory over John Bapst. Scored 15 points in 42-35 win over PCHS.

Other nominations

Megan Peach- Dexter- basketball- Recorded 12 points and 21 rebounds in 54-44 victory over Stearns. Recorded 15 points and nine rebounds in 48-24 win over Bucksport.

Michaela White- Dexter- basketball- Recorded 23 points and seven rebounds in 54-44 victory over Stearns. Scored eight points in 48-24 victory over Bucksport.

Anna Ramsey- Narraguagus- basketball- Scored 25 points in 54-29 win over Washington Academy.
