Ray Price, a Country Music Hall of Famer, has not died, but an update from close friend, Radio Hall of Famer Bill Mack, states that the 87-year-old singer is in the end stages of his battle with cancer.
Bill Mack, a close friend of Ray and Janie Price, posted an update on his Facebook page Dec. 15 stating that even though the media has reported Ray Price’s death, the country music icon is still alive but fading from his long battle with cancer. Mack posted the update in order to address the concerns of the media and fans over the confusion surrounding reports of Ray Price’s death. Earlier today Price’s son Cliff posted on his Facebook page that his father had passed. In addition, several media outlets reported Ray Price’s death, including CMT. The article announcing Price’s death has since been pulled from the CMT website.
From Bill Mack’s Facebook page:
“As of 7:00PM, the great Ray Price is still with us, although obviously fading from the cancer. This was verified by Janie Price less than an hour ago (6:00PM, Central). Just wanted to release this “update” because so many of you have issued your concerns. Thank you! It’s been a long day since Janie called me this morning notifying me of his “failing condition”, but I’ve had the opportunity to observe hundreds of caring, loving messages. What a deserving compliment to Ray.”
Bill Mack asks that fans please keep Ray and Janie Price and their family and friends in their prayers at this difficult time.
