Recording artist Ray Parker, Jr. is set to get his star on the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The guitarist, songwriter and producer is best known for composing and performing the theme song to the supernatural comedy film "Ghostbusters."

When Parker's star is unveiled on March 6, it will become the 2,518th five-pointed terrazzo and brass honor embedded within the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Hollywood, CA.

“We have amazing musicians on the Walk of Fame and adding Ray Parker, Jr. to our famous Walk of Fame is the icing on the cake,” stated Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Leron Gubler.

Gubler said Parker's star will rest next to those stars earned by fellow musical greats Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie and The Funk Brothers.

Throughout his 40-year-long career in the music industry, the now-59-year-old Parker wrote songs and did session work for many notables, including David Foster, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Boz Scaggs, Tina Turner, Diana Ross and The Temptations, among others. Parker also performed with the late Barry White.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at 7065 Hollywood Boulevard at 11:30 a.m. PST. The ceremony will be streamed live at www.walkoffame.com.
