Ray Lewis to retire from NFL after current season (Video)

According to a report from NYtimes, on Jan 2, 2013, Ray Lewis, the ferocious face of the Baltimore Ravens, announced his retirement on Wednesday after the current season.

Lewis with eyeblack streaked across his face and his wild dances is the face of NFL and it is very difficult to imagine the NFL without his ferocious play.

However Lewis's game has been on the decline in the past few years. Age has slowed down his ability to run sidelines.

He tore his triceps and missed 10 games during the regular season. Ravens are already missing Terell Suggs and with Lewis retiring now, the linebacker team of the Ravens looks vulnerable.

Lewis has dominated the game and it would not be wrong to say that in the history of NFL, he was the greatest middle linebacker.

Lewis said his children have made sacrifice for their father in the past 17 years and he does not want them doing that anymore.

He said he had done enough for the game and now he wants to give them something back.
