The Raw Food Diet is believed to leave you with a leaner body, clearer skin, and higher energy after eating uncooked, unprocessed plant foods. This raw food diet was debated as to whether or not it was a path to excellent health or to poor nourishment. It was decided that this diet was stuck somewhere in between the two extremes. The principal behind raw foodism (known as rawism) is that plant foods that are uncooked and unprocessed are the most wholesome for the body. You should know that this raw food diet is a lifestyle choice and is not a weight loss plan.
It isn’t easy to stick to a raw food diet. You could say you would get a workout with the amount of time you spend in the kitchen peeling, chopping, straining and blending. This diet contains 75% fruits and vegetables. The main source of the raw food diet includes:
- Sprouted seeds
- Whole grains
- Dried fruits
Be warned with the Raw Food Diet that you are absolutely not allowed any alcohol, refined sugars, or caffeine. The majority of raw foodists are vegans (they eat no animal products). But there are a few raw foodists who will eat raw eggs and cheese made from raw or unpasteurized milk. Raw foodists do not cook with the traditional stove or oven. They use food dehydrators the majority of the time. These dry out fruits for fruit leather and other raw food recipes. The raw food diet is not for everyone and you should consult your doctor before beginning any diet, especially if you are unsure of it.
