Adventures in Veganland is presenting a vegan, gluten-free, raw foods potluck dinner called “Raw Food Rocks!” at Total Health Foods in Wyandotte. The event includes a talk and book signing by Joyce Oliveto, author of “Living Simply Raw.” The potluck takes place Sunday, Aug. 24 from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Raw snacks, appetizers, and smoothies will be provided. Guests are asked to bring a dish to pass that serves at least 8 people, and adheres to the raw/vegan/gluten-free guidelines. All food should be: raw (not cooked above 105˚); vegan (no animal products such as meat, fish, dairy, eggs, or honey); gluten-free (no wheat, oats, rye, or other gluten containing products). If unsure about what to bring, please contact Patti. Click here to contact her.

Adventures in Veganland is a Detroit area social group for vegans, vegetarians, veg-curious, and their supportive friends, and family. The group was founded in 2007 by Patti “Veggie Patti” Radakovich, author of “Simple Joy in Simple Foods.” The purpose of the group is to promote camaraderie among vegetarians through social events.

Joyce Oliveto is a naturopath, nutritionist, raw food chef, and teacher. She holds classes, workshops, and retreats on detoxification, living foods lifestyle, and living foods preparation. She travels internationally teaching people how to achieve vibrant health through living foods and proper nutrition.

The Detroit Vegetarian Examiner spoke to Joyce Oliveto recently. She had the following to say about the benefits of a raw foods lifestyle:

“Wellness is a conscious choice to continually improve our overall quality of life and health. Many people are intimidated by the thought of eating all raw live foods. It is not about becoming raw in 30 days or becoming raw in six months or becoming raw in a year. The journey is different for each individual. Living a life of vibrant health can be achieved by anyone if this is your choice. If you begin simply by eating 60% raw and live foods, you will begin to see and feel the difference.

There are many, many reasons for embracing a raw foods lifestyle: Higher quality of life, peace of mind, higher consciousness, vibrant health, endless energy, healthy planet, healthy children, anti-aging and rejuvenation, vibrating at a higher frequency, feeling joyful and loving much of the time.”

Her book, “Living simply Raw,” is designed to help those who wish to adopt a raw/living foods lifestyle do so simply and easily. “Living Simply Raw” is available at Total Health Foods and at Zerbo’s Health Foods in Livonia. Joyce Oliveto can be reached through her website.
