Raw Food Made Easy: The Sure Path to Health and Fitness (Photos)

Amidst the tranquility of her eco-friendly business located just by El Yunque Tropical Rain Forest, Chef Skai Juice welcomed her guests to her first Raw Food seminar at said place located in Palmer, Puerto Rico. Here she shared with her guests not only her culinary and "flavorful" dishes, but some of her secrets to total well being, health and wellness.

My expectations were high. The seminar cost $40 and I had every intention on making sure I got my money's worth. Skai not only exceeded my expectations but mesmerized me with her kitchen flair and her authentic passion and knowledge of what it means eating well for good health.

The seminar/workshop/buffet started around 3:00 pm and included a live broadcast through the internet with folks logging in even from Washington DC. Skai started giving some personal background, which could also be available in her website.

The Natural Lifestyle Coach, whose parents died for health reasons when she was around 31 years of age, spared no time in disclosing the main ingredients of her cuisine: kale, buckwheat, and collard greens, among many others. "Make sure you get your greens, your chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is the real food. We are not living as optimally as we could live because we lack enzymes. Raw food alkalizes the body and changes the blood ph level. When you get easily upset or angry or stressed out, more than likely is due to high acid level in your bloodstream", Skai explained to the attendees, a couple of which flew in from United States to attend the seminar live and also get a tour of the Island.

Skai tip #1: "Alkaline foods, once you fry them, become acidic."

The holistic chef with more than 15 years of experience advised to used fruits, such as dates as sweeteners "dates are great alkalies". She also recommended organic gourmet coconut sugar of the Madhava brand.

Skai tip #2: "In other parts of the world, their tongues are used to bitter and sour. If we find it bitter, it means our body needs it."

Skai guided her audience through the natural magic of fixing breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert without using a stove or a microwave. She also shared an overwhelming amount of information like the following:

1. If you are going to cook raw (using the word "cook" for lack of a better term) make sure you cook plenty. You don't need to make it a hassle when you really need to grab and go.

2. Learn to identify the leaves around your area. There are plenty of wild grown leaves that are real food and could serve as a quick delicacy, like lemongrass and wheat grass.

3. Citric acid does not acidify the body.

4. The difference between live and raw is that live will sprout.

The seminar, that lasted more than three hours, an hour longer than scheduled, ended with pizzazz: Chef Skai invited attendees for dessert, a fabulous and delicious raw and organic made cake.
