RAW Discovery event scheduled for February 21

RAW Des Moines, an independent arts organization that focuses on local natural born talents, will hold a huge event on Thursday, February 21. The event, Discovery, will be held at the Temple for Performing Arts (1011 Locust Street) in Downtown Des Moines from 8 p.m. until midnight. Tickets for Discovery are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and they may be purchased directly through the RAW website. This is a 21-and-over event, and cocktail attire is strongly suggested.

RAW events support and promote local artists of all varieties--painters, sculptors, hair and makeup artists, musicians, dancers, and more. Here is a list of the art and artists that will be featured at Discovery:

Ryan Gillispie--writer, comic book and pin-up artist
Corey Cook--pin-and-ink artist, painter, sculptor, engraver, calligrapher
Kick--modern and classic rock band from Panora, Iowa
Krista--stylist and owner of Studio7 Salon & Spa in Ames
Zack--sketch and tattoo artist
Amanda Gorsche Miller--singer and novelist
Nomadic Twirler--dancer/twirler
Deadnote--rock and roll band formed in North Central Iowa
