The Zero Summers shined onstage at this year’s RAW show, Marvel, at The Complex. RAW is a gathering of local artists of all different trades. Photography, 3D art made mostly of pennies, steam punk hats, runway shows, makeup artistry, musical artists and a few more beautiful and interesting things to see and hear. RAW is for bringing local artists together to support each other and to help them build their reputation. As well as getting the community involved in supporting them.
The Zero Summers are an Indie Rock band with the ability to mesmerize and capture audiences, with their webs of melodic magic. Some background melodies have a sound like unto U2 and Morrissey but overall, are more likely to remind one of Coldplay. The solo vocals of Kelli Morris are somewhat similar to down tempo songs of Taylor Swift. David Higbee, lead singer/guitar player, has a voice which reminds certain music fans why they don’t have a particular taste for screaming and growling. The musical talent is no less marvelous from; Amy Jo Elmber (cello/keys), Ryke Egbert (bass) and Sean Morris (drums).
RAW was actually a reminder of the show put together by AFLA (Artists for Local Agriculture) and The Utah Arts Alliance promoting the Railyard Community Garden, at Mixx. The garden is on 100 S and 663 W and will also feature local art. Musical performances included Minx, an experimental duo with a lot of energy and talent to bring to the table. They are Ischa Bee and Raffi Shahinian, who were also the rock band, Uncle Scam. Care about your community and please remember to support your local scene.
