Ravens re-sign Harewood to a one-year deal

The Baltimore Ravens wanted to re-sign Dannell Ellerbe and Paul Kruger to new deals.

However, after the team signed quarterback Joe Flacco to a massive deal, the team did not have enough money to sign Ellerbe and Kruger to the new deals that they were requesting. Yet, the team was able to re-sign an offensive lineman to potentially protect Flacco.

The team announced that they have re-signed tackle and guard Ramon Harewood to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 26-year-old is a favorite of Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome. Newsome is a fan of Harewood's potential.

He started five starts at left guard last season for the Ravens. However, in those games, he was exposed as a pass rusher.

He is expected to compete for a roster spot during training camp. There is a chance, depending on how he performs, that this contract may not count against the cap if he is released.
