Rattie scores for Canada in win over Slovakia at World Juniors

According to TSN, Calgary native Ty Rattie scored a key game tying goal for Team Canada Friday at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Ufa, Russia as Canada defeated Slovakia 6-3.

Rattie, a resident of Airdrie, Alberta and draft pick of the St. Louis Blues, scored from Xavier Oullet and Morgan Rielly on the power play at 11:42 of the second period to tie the game at three. It was the second of five consecutive goals for Team Canada.

Meanwhile, Calgary Flames' draft pick Tyler Wotherspoon also got on the scoresheet with a third period assist on a Canadian goal by Ryan Strome.

The Canadians now improve to 2-0 and will next play the United States (Sunday, 2:30 a.m., TSN).

In other action, Victor Rask of the Calgary Hitmen scored the game winning goal for Sweden in the shootout in a 3-2 win over Switzerland. The Swedes next play Latvia on Saturday.
