On Saturday, March 22, 2014 “Rats” will invade the Jersey Shore. No it’s not the cast of a reality show, it is the spring edition of the “Rat Race” that will be held at Wells Mills Park in Waretown, NJ.
It consists of a 10K and 20K race through the scenic park.
According to Bill Scholl the race director of the Shark River Hills section of Neptune Township the park will offer a very interesting and scenic course. It starts on a road by the ranger station and goes for about 2 miles on a dirt road before entering a marked trail through the woods. There are some moderate undulating hills through the wooded section of the course before the 10 K loop returns back to the ranger station area. The 20K runners will do two loops through the course.
Unlike the fall edition the course will be well marked along a prescribed route with water stops and the distances have been measured to be accurate. The 20K will start at 9:45 a.m. and the 10K at 10 a.m.
