According to the Alberta Junior Hockey League website, Calgary native Zack Rassell of the Canmore Eagles has been named the Alberta Dodge Dealers Alberta Junior Hockey League player of the month for January.
Rassell, a 21 year-old forward, had nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in the month of January, as the Eagles were 9-2 in 11 games. Canmore is currently in second place in the South Division with a record of 29-17-4, but are still a whopping 30 points back of the amazing Brooks Bandits, who lead the AJHL with a remarkable record of 45-2-2.
Rassell, who has committed to the University of Alaska-Anchorage for next season, becomes the second consecutive Calgarian to be named the AJHL player of the month. In December, Matthew Marcinew of the Olds Grizzlys received the honour.
Rassell is in his fourth year with the Eagles after spending the 2011-12 season with the Prince George Spruce Kings. He currently leads the Eagles with 21 goals and 45 points.
