Former Portland Trail Blazers power forward Rasheed Wallace is considering a return to the NBA after he retired almost two years ago, according to league sources and Wallace's agent.
Wallace retired after the 2009-10 season, when he played in 79 games for the Boston Celtics. That season, the 15-year NBA veteran averaged 9 points per game, along with 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 22.5 minutes per game.
He is reportedly serious about a return to the NBA.
Wallace's agent, Bill Strickland, told Yahoo! Sports, "As a veteran player, (Wallace) knows what it takes to be reinstated."
Wallace played seven full NBA seasons with the Trail Blazers from 1996 to 2003. He was dealt 45 games into his 8th year with Portland in the 2003-04 season. He played in one game for the Atlanta Hawks and then packed his bag for Detroit, where he played from 2004 to 2009.
For his career, Wallace averaged 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds. He remains the all-time NBA leader in technical fouls.
After his last game - a game 7 loss to the Lakers in the NBA Finals in 2010 - Wallace stood and waited outside the officials' locker room until he was finally told to leave.
