When the Christian-based movie “Heaven Is For Real” opens April 16, the soundtrack will disclose a familiar voice to country music fans. Rascal Flatts perform a spiritually moving song entitled “Compass”. This Easter week movie opening spotlights a heavenly story exactly one month before Rascal Flatts kicks off their “Rewind” tour in St. Louis.
“Heaven Is For Real” is a movie that has been adapted from a New York Times Bestseller book by the same title. It is the account of Pastor Todd Burpo’s four-year-old son’s near death experience where he claims to have entered heaven. The book, and the movie, play out and describe what young Colton Burpo experienced in heaven.
Rascal Flatts is a band who is well known in the country music genre and not signed exclusively with any particular Christian music label. However, this song is a perfect fit for the movie’s soundtrack. Watch a video of the soundtrack and get a glimpse of the fitting lyrics.
The movie’s soundtrack song was written by Diane Warren. She is best known as a Golden Globe-winning writer of “There You’ll Be”, “How Do I Live”, and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”. The movie's song is the perfect blend of appropriate inspiring lyrics and melody to accompany a heart-touching, life-chaging movie about life after death.
The song “Compass” will also be part of the upcoming Rascal Flatts studio album, “Rewind”. This ninth studio album for the musicians is due to hit the store on May 13. Meanwhile, fans can purchase a Walmart exclusive four-song EP to satisfy their country music cravings.
St. Louis fans have an extra special treat, because the Rewind tour opens locally on May 16 with special guest appearance from Sheryl Crow and Gloriana. This opening kick-off event will occur at the Verizon Wireless Ampitheatre in Maryland Heights.
