Join Troupe Zephyr and special guest Laylia for two exciting belly dance workshops. Beginners and Intermediates will enjoy the day, which begins with Lori of Troupe Zephyr instructing a veil workshop including a short choreography. ($10; $5 if paid by February 28) In the afternoon, join Laylia for a two-hour class in layering choreography. She will have you dancing smoothly with isolations and layering techniques suitable for both the classic and tribal dancer. ($25; $20 if paid by February 28)
Laylia, from Columbus, has traveled the country, dancing at Turkish weddings, festivals, celebrations and restaurants. She toured with the Turkish group, Turkana. She is a popular instructor, known for her sense of humor and sword work.
Stay for a Mediterranean dinner prepared by chefs Haley and Jordan ($10, reserved in advance).
At 8 p.m., enjoy a dance show and hafla. Door entry is free if you are registered for the day’s events ($5 at the door)
Registrations received by February 28 gives you the entire day for only $35!!!!
Troupe Zephyr hosts two events a year. Schoolhouse Raqs, the smaller and more intimate event takes place in the spring. In August or September, they host Gypsy Mystique in nearby Wapakoneta.
