Rapper with Travis Porter arrested for allegedly having loaded gun at airport

An Atlanta rapper from the group Travis Porter was arrested Wednesday morning after officials said they found a loaded gun in his bag at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Mr. Harold Demetrius Duncan, 21, who goes by the name Strap, was charged with carrying a weapon in an unauthorized location, according to Clayton County Jail records.

The man was stopped at a security checkpoint after a screener spotted a loaded .45-caliber Glock inside a carry-on bag, Atlanta police spokesman Mr. John Chafee said.

The Transportation Security Administration contacted airport police, who arrested Mr. Duncan, shortly after 8 a.m., police said.

Mr. Duncan was booked into the Clayton County Jail shortly after 11 a.m., according to jail records.

Mr. Duncan allegedly also had ammunition in the bag, the TSA spokesman, Mr. Jonathan Allen, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The gun was the 10th seized at Hartsfield-Jackson this year, according to the paper.

Although firearms are prohibited in carry-on bags, they can be transported unloaded in checked bags if they are reported to the airlines, Mr. Allen told the paper.

Along with Mr. Duncan, Travis Porter includes Mr. Lakeem "Ali" Mattox and Mr. Donquez "Quez" Woods. The trio met while attending school in Decatur and had a breakout hit in 2010 with their song, "Make it Rain."

Travis Porter was scheduled to perform at New York City club Wednesday night and at Yale University on Thursday, according to the group’s website.

Mr. Duncan is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, a spokesman for the Clayton County Sheriff's Office told the AJC.
