Atlanta, Georgia boy on probation for his previous illegal possession of machine guns, the rapper T.I. Harris, recently found himself on the other side of law enforcement yet again. This time in California, where he and his wife Tamika "Tiny" Cottle were attempting to do an illegal U-turn on Wednesday night on the Sunset Strip, according to TMZ.
A traffic violation originally prompted the stop, but the alleged smell of drugs during the officer's interaction with the rapper resulted in a search of T.I.'s Maybach. As with the recent Paris Hilton case, law enforcement stated that the smell of marijuana permeated the air around the rapper. Both T.I. and Tiny were arrested on the scene after the traffic stop, as officers also say they found illegal substances substantiating the "King of the South" and his wife's transport to jail.
TMZ reported pills were allegedly found, according to their police source, and it was believed to be ecstasy. The Associated Press, however, reported later that the suspected substance prompting arrest was methamphetamine.
Prior drug related arrest, automatic weapons conviction
Clifford "T.I." Harris has had prior brushes with the law for drug-related and other charges in the past, per the Associated Press, including his 2007 arrest stemming from an attempt to purchase automatic weapons in route to a BET Awards event.
Harris served seven months in an Arkansas prison for that crime conviction, later spending three months as well in a halfway house in Georgia, his home state.
T.I.'s arrest in California, one month after his marriage to longtime girlfriend Tamika, comes during the midst of his three-year probationary status. Ordered the three years probation for his last conviction, which he just finished serving time for earlier this year, T.I. can ill afford to be found guilty of additional criminal charges now.
T.I. on midnight train to Georgia?
The Atlanta, GA probationary officer for the rapper has ordered him to return to Georgia, where he can provide information that will help determine their future course of action for the musical celebrity.
"The probation office is in the process of determining what happened and will make a recommendation regarding Mr. Harris when they have all the facts," U. S. Attorney Sally Yates told the Associated Press.
But the probation office won't be deciding this young star's future; U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell, Jr. will. Judge Pannell, in fact, presided over T.I.'s original case. And it will be Judge Pannell who determines if he will follow the recommendations made by the probationary office, or if he will create his own decision for the rapper who may have forgotten his MTV Reality Show motto, the "T.I.'s Road to Redemption," detoured back to an earlier lifestyle, instead.
Jail no honeymoon for newlyweds
T.I. and his wife Tamika Cottle started their new life together in Miami last month, but they have been an item for years. Now, however, they have moved on to sharing an arrest and jail time together. The only thing they didn't share was a ride in a cop car in route to jail Wednesday night. A $10,000 bail was paid and the two have been released.
There is no official word yet on when T.I. will reappear in Atlanta for his day of reckoning, but Andrew Young, formerly a United Nations Ambassador, is a friend and mentor of T.I. and had this to say on the matter, "We never talked about drugs. Maybe I should have."

@ Radell Smith. Why do you keep throwing pointless monikers like "king of the south" and "georgia boy" everybody knows t.i. hes worth upwards of 50 million, you ought to refer to him as mister.
dats why we go to cnn for the news and not the examiner. Pop culture examiner my ass. whats up with gibson with his wife beating ass report that.
Everyone knows you can't spend your millions in prison, so I guess he will be "King of the Yard" there.
It's all gravy mane his broad is gonna take the charge like any rider would do!
Any woman worth her wait in self respect wouldn't allow a boyfriend or husband to manipulate her into going to prison for them. And any man that was really a man wouldn't be asking her to in the first place. Only a warped mind would think that is a 'good' thing to do. I think the judge needs to send them both to prison.
