Saturday, Snoop Dogg was arrested. The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was booked on marijuana drug charges in Texas. Coincidentally, Willie Nelson faced similar charges in the same region when he was jailed in 2010.
Snoop Dogg: “Dogg Pound” Star's Arrest Details
According to Entertainment Weekly, Broadus was on his tour bus when U.S. Border Patrol agents in Sierra Blanca, Texas stopped it during a routine checkpoint. At some point, drug dogs made a "hit" and officers discovered a prescription bottle with rolled-up marijuana cigarettes.
Further investigation led to the discovery of two more containers that contained the controlled substance. While the total weight was no more than .130 lbs., Snoop Dogg was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. In fact, the rapper confessed to the charges.
What Happens to Snoop Doggy Dogg Next after the Arrest?
While the megastar is known to have used cannabis in the past, during a former segment of his reality show Fatherhood, the “Dogg Pound” rapper said he gave up smoking and wanted to be a role model to his kids, and children in general.
Now that Snoop Dogg was arrested, he now faces a court date on Jan. 20, 2012. At that point, he will answer to the marijuana drug charges. However, it is not clear how the case will evolve. There could be a plea bargain, lesser charges, a trial, or he may simply get a slap on the hand. Good luck with that Broadus.
