Rick Ross reportedly crashed his Rolls-Royce into the side of a building while trying to escape gunfire in an apparent drive by shooting, according to TMZ (Jan. 28).
According to sources, a gunman opened fire on the rapper, releasing “dozens” of shots around 5 a.m. Friday morning. Ross sped away, trying to escape and hit a building. Neither Ross or a female passenger were shot. No suspects have been apprehended or named as of yet.
Ross has recently been fighting a battle of another sort. Former drug trafficker Freeway Ricky Ross is suing Ross, claiming the rapper is trying to steal his image. “This guy is literally trying to have people confuse him with me as an actual person,” Freeway Ricky Ross said in an interview.
“In every interview I mention ‘Superfly’ as the movie that pushed me into powder cocaine. I even said it in the VH1′s ‘Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop and The Crack Generation,’ that was shown around the world. Then he comes out with this new video with the ‘Superfly’ movie cover as the centerpiece?”
As part of the trial, Freeway will be deposing some big names who are associated with the rapper. “We will be deposing Sean Combs, Stephen Cooper, Lyor Cohen and Todd Moscowitz.”
The recent trailer for Rick Ross’ “Mastermind” is apparently central to Freeway’s claim and that it describes his life story.
The case is headed to trial by jury sometime in August.
