Maybach Music Group recording artist Rick Ross survived a drive-by shooting and attempt to end his life in Fort Lauderdale early Monday morning.
According to Florida based reports, Ross was in a Rolls Royce driving on E. Las Olas Blvd. when a car pulled up to the side and someone inside opened fire. Ross and those riding with him avoided the gunfire, which sprayed across several businesses and ended when the Rolls Royce crashed into the Floridian, a restaurant.
It is unclear who might have been involved in the shooting and what condition the "Blowing Money Fast" rapper is in mentally or physically, but WSVN reports that no one was injured.
The drive-by shooting is striking, considering it parallels fatal shootings of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. (Biggie) in 1996 and 1997 respectively.
Ross is notoriously known as one of hip-hop's leading artists, heading Maybach Music Group, a label with recording artists like Wale and Omarion. Ross was also involved in an altercation at the BET Hip Hop Awards last Fall. It was alleged that gunfire erupted in the parking lot outside the venue in Atlanta, but no one was injured.
