Alexandria,La- Locally loved rapper Lil' Boosie was released from Angola's Louisiana State Penitentiary around 7 pm on Wednesday.

He was doing a 4 year sentence for drug charges he acquired in 2009 as well as an additional 8 years for charges he received after being locked up.

Torrence Hatch AKA Lil' Boosie, 31 was incarcerated on a third-offense marijuana possession charge shortly after being acquitted for murder in the case of Terry Boyd.

Boosie was caught introducing contraband, drugs, into the facility and received 8 years on what was originally a 4 year stretch.

He will remain on supervised parole until 2018.

Hatch was transported via prison van to friends and family waiting at the substation of West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office. He returned to New Orleans.

Hatch is due to report to his parole officer in Orleans Parish sometimes on Thursday March 3, 2014.

A guard at Angola said, "Boosie did undergo treatment while incarcerated for drug abuse; Since he has such an influence in the pop culture community it is hoped that the message that this popular artists sends will help and not mislead young people who are looking up to him. He has an opportunity to make a difference, so lets see what he does with it."

MTV has announced that Lil' Boosie will attend a Monday press conference in New Orleans with his record label at his side.

An Atlantic Records representative said, "Boosie will absolutely be there, speaking to the press for the first time, after his release."
