Earl Simmons, known in the hip hop world as DMX, has added to his long list of arrests. As Reuters reports on November 5, the 42-year-old rapper was arrested in South Carolina for driving without a valid license.
DMX has been on a downward spiral since peeking in the late 90s as one of the top rappers. This being his latest run-in with the law, DMX has spent time in prison previously in Arizona and has been arrested for charges that include cruelty to animals, drug possession, weapons charges as well as charges of reckless driving.
According to a police dispatcher, local police stopped DMX as he was driving up to the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport early on Monday evening. When it was discovered that he was driving without a valid license, he was arrested and spent hours in jail before posting his own $1,334 bond.
This wasn’t the first run-in with police in South Carolina. Back in July he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and in August he was charged with possession of marijuana.
The rapper has had a tough time getting his life back on track since he exploded onto the hip hop scene with hit albums “Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood” and “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot”.
