A family in Larnaca, Cyprus spotted a rapidly flashing UFO in the dark night sky on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Even though Larnaca is home to Larnaca International Airport, the largest airport on Cyprus, the unidentified flying object was clearly not an airplane.
In fact, the object did not resemble any ordinary aircraft like planes or helicopters. Nor did it appear to be a balloon or Chinese lantern, common explanations for UFO sightings.
A member of the family was able to capture the moving image of the UFO on video for a full minute. Several people can be heard exclaiming excitedly throughout the entire video in their native tongue, presumably Greek or Turkish (both are national languages of Cyprus). It is obvious from the sound of their voices that they are reacting to the unusual sight in the sky above them.
The UFO sailed above a streetlamp and remained in the sky for nearly a minute. It moved erratically and blinked quickly the entire time it was visible. The unidentified flying object revealed several bright shades of red and orange during its brief appearance in the sky. After less than a minute, it winked out completely and left the sky in darkness.
