Rape and the very religious

So many morons and so little time. This column will return to Tales of Trump soon enough. The saga will continue about how little he gives to charity but is demanding a cool five mill from Bill Maher. (Spoiler alert, Trump donated only $6.7 million over twenty years. That is what the so-called billionaire has given in two decades. Charity- yeah that’s what is motivating The Donald.)

But rape trumps- ha- crazy selfishness.

The newest Republican to wade in on the matter of sex forced on women is a Congressman from Georgia. The only question folks might've had when hearing the remarks is: which southern state does he represent? The real surprise is that he is a former OB-GYN.

How did he get into medical school? Even if he believes that Todd Akin was partially right about legitimate rape, did the doctor/politician notice that Akin lost when he had been spotted a 15 point margin at the beginning of his campaign against Claire Mccaskill?

Congressmen Gingrey also defended the remarks of the, again, defeated candidate Richard Murdock.

Where to begin? Okay, this man delivered babies? Are they okay? Did the mothers survive? Where did he attend medical school? Was it on an online program?

Duly noted. A majority of people, even the most religious, do not condone rape. Many folks cannot accept abortion. That is understandable.

If someone’s faith has the tenet that life begins at conception, it would be hard to sanction removing a fetus from the womb.

However, religion should not nullify science, compassion and common sense,

If right to lifers are so pro life, then why are so many ready to let the mother die in lieu of a life saving abortion? Yes Paul Ryan, that includes you. And while the question of existence is moot and profound, no one doubts that women in labor are actually alive.

(As are people sentenced to death, some innocent, and thousands of our youth sent into war without proper training and manpower. And equipment.)

Also, men rape. Sorry, they do. Actually, this column is so very sorry that men rape.

And it is never, ever legitimate.

Congressman Gingrey who somehow attended medical school: did anyone teach you about pregnancy? How about during your obstetrics rotation? Do you remember the words sperm or egg?

Just asking.

He even flipped the odious intent of Akin's remarks and stated it for the record. If a girl is pregnant, then maybe it isn't rape.

Children may be a gift from God, or the universe or pure biology.

But rape is a violent crime.
