Hey Young World,
Just sharing some thoughts.
So, people have been a fan of Rap/Hip-Hop ever since I can remember, but lately it has lost its validity, its umph! Remember when rappers actually rapped? Rapping use to be an art form, play on words, and a story filled with tricky metaphors that always had you thinking hmm.
Now all people hear is free advertisement for expensive things that’s supposed to ‘solidify’ your social status amongst particular social groups. Not saying that rappers should not be proud of what they have earned, but if all you talk about in your songs is your diamonds, cars, houses, and expensive video model (whatever that means), at the end of the day you haven't said anything at all.
More and more people are turning away from rap because it has nothing to offer. The only people left listen to the buffoonery is the kids! Studio gangsters who only have seen guns in movies before becoming a so-called “Star” are ruining the kids.
Hey, if an artist is making music, make music. But be cognizant as an artist of the message that is being portrayed.
Hip-Hop is not dying, it is evolving into something we cannot fathom, but like anything else, it needs balance. When the time comes and hip-hop stops being so stereotypical, and finally makes sense again. We will see this industry and the people that follow it closely rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
God Speed People,
Young Jedi Knight
