Raoul, the Singapore based mens and women fashion house presented their womenswear Cruise 2015 collection during Resort Market Week in New York. The collection of ready-to-wear outfits, along with shoe and handbags were presented at their New York City showroom at 70 West 40th Street. Desert Modernism is a reoccurring theme for the brand. Following that path, Raoul took special inspiration for this collection from the Parker Hotel - Palm Springs, redesigned by Jonathan Adler.
The label sought to convey elegance and informality. Colors such as lime green, dark green, orange, lilac and white are directly influenced from the furniture, trimmed hedges, front door, furniture and walls of the Parker Hotel. The tone and attitude of the collection is light and playful, yet responsible and mature. There is an homage to the 70's with "sunglass" print tops and skirts; in addition to an appeal to the arts with print patterns of the cross-hatched and circular painted gesture brushstrokes of Pierre Soulages.
One of the stand out looks from the collection is a lime green cap-sleeved top with matching cropped pants, worn with white/gold sandals. Another really cool look is a rich, green, silk-twill Mikado anorak jacket, matching leather skort, and white top with sunglass prints. A look that is perfect to wear on a warm night out on the town, or at a garden-party is a sleeveless, long, close-fitting, hot-pink dress with slit up to the left knee, and slash of orange.
