Rangers vs. Sabres 3/3/13

Here are some notes for those fans getting ready to watch the New York Rangers (9-8-2) who are getting ready to host the Buffalo Sabres (4-6-0) in NHL action at Madison Square Garden.

This is the first of three meetings; as the teams will play again on March 12. Last year the Blueshirts won two of three, one in overtime and one in a shootout.

As of today the Rangers sit 10th in the Eastern Conference standings, their recent 1-3-2 record though has kept them from moving on up in the standings. Currently the Blueshirts sits above the incoming Sabres, who are 12th.

For the Rangers three of the next four games are at the friendly confines of the Garden. The Blueshirts were able to record a 4-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning at MSG on Thursday, which ended a four-game losing streak.

In their returns from injury Rick Nash had a goal and assist along with blueliner Ryan McDonagh who had two assists on Thursday. Marc Staal and Ryan Callahan each have three points in the last four games.

The Rangers and Sabres game is set to air on the MSG Network, with face-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m..
