This is the first of three meetings between these Original Six squads, and both are playing for the third time in four nights. The one thing these bitter rivals have in common is the fact that the energy from both teams needs a bolster from somewhere and the Blueshirts hope that newly acquired forward Benn Ferriero can be that boost.
Ferriero, 25, was able to tally and assist while with the Rangers AHL affiliate the Connecticut Whale. The Rangers were able to pick-up the forward in a trade from Pittsburgh on Thursday in exchange for forward Chad Kolarik.
Also looking to give a boost to New York is Taylor Pyatt, who recorded his third game on Thursday. Henrik Lundqvist had a 31-save performance in the Blueshirts tough loss against the Flyers, and looks to be the “King” in the cage yet again.
The Rangers and Leafs are set to air on the NHL-Network with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
