Rangers vs. Islanders 2/14/13

Here are some notes for those fans watching the Rangers take on the Islanders tonight in NHL action at Madison Square Garden.

The New York Rangers will be playing in their second meeting in seven days, as the guys currently sit third in the Atlantic Division and eighth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 7-5-0. New York enters tonights game after a 4-3 shootout thriller over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, as the guys have now won seven of their last 10 contest

When the Rangers score first:

Thus far the Blueshirts are undefeated when scoring the game's first goal this season, holding a 5-0-0 mark in these contest. New York have also posted a 5-0-0 mark when leading after the first and second periods.

On Fire:

The Rangers have won seven of the last 10 contests after dropping their first two games this season, including a 4-1-0 mark in the last five contests.

New York enters tonight with a three-game winning streak, and have out-scored their opponents, 13-5, over the span.

The Blueshirts penalty kill has held opponents scoreless in each of the last three games (11 times shorthanded).

Henrik Lundqvist is 6-3-0 with a 2.10 GAA and a .922 save percentage in his last nine games, thus far the King has held opponents to two goals or less in five of his last eight games (5-3-0, 1.99 GAA, .926 Sv% over the span).

Carl Hagelin has six points (four goals, two assist) in the last five games, including four points (three goals, one assists) in the last two.
